Journal - Day 3
*
The three rivers that converge here are said to look like a "turkey's foot".
*
We are going on a 7.5-mile ride on Class III whitewater rapids of the
Yough River with about 75 other bike riders.
*
Lots of fun, but very challenging and different from anything we've ever done before.
*
We get wet, but it's warm out, so it's actually quite refreshing.
*
Richard gets tossed out of our raft once, but is quickly rescued
by one of the river guides.
*
Our raft gets caught on lots of rocks and we learn how to get it
off the rocks without getting out of the raft.
*
We stop half way for lunch, which is set out for us on an old mill
stone that, legend has it, was tossed (or fell) from a passing train long ago.
Linda Sue is on the left with her oar in the air;
Richard is in the middle with his oar over the word "Wilderness" painted on the raft
Linda Sue is on the left with her oar just touching the water;
Richard is in the middle with his oar blade in the air
Linda Sue is on the left;
Richard is on the right

Richard is on the right sitting on the side of the raft
*
The railroad is very much in use with many trains chugging
by at all hours of the day and night.
*
That evening, we decide to eat out at a nice restaurant
in Confluence next to the Yough River, aptly called The
River's Edge Café. We enjoy our meal while sitting
with several other riders on the Sojourn. Almost have a
minyan when the group finds out that I am a cantor.
*
The weather turns just as we are paying for the meal,
so we make a mad dash back to the campsite just as the rain begins.
*
At a lull in the evening's rain, the organizers make a campfire
and lay out all the fixin's for s'mores. Yum!
