In certain prescribed years in the Jewish calendar, Parashat Hukkat is read in combination with Parashat Balak. This presents some challenges for the triennial system. Suffice it to say, that there are seven possible triennial patterns that can affect which verses in Parashat Hukkat are read when it is read separately from Parashat Balak. Refer to the Hebcal.com web-site to determine the current triennial pattern.
