In certain prescribed years in the Jewish calendar, Parashat Mas'ei is read in combination with Parashat Mattot. This presents some challenges for the triennial system. Suffice it to say, that there are three possible triennial patterns that can affect which verses in Parashat Mas'ei are read when it is read separately from Parashat Mattot.
